Colombians head to the polls as the nation debates peace

BOGOTA -- Colombians began heading to the polls Sunday to choose a president in a tight and bitter race that is seen as a referendum on the peace process with the nation’s guerrillas.

President Juan Manuel Santos, 62, and former Finance Minister Oscar Ivaán Zuluaga, 54 are vying to lead this nation of 46 million, which is one of the United States’ staunchest allies in the region.
