Colombia’s guerrillas suspend ceasefire after military attack

Colombia’s Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) ended a 5-month-old unilateral ceasefire after the Colombian military killed at least 26 guerrilla fighters on Thursday.

FARC and government negotiators in Cuba have been meeting for more than two years to try to end the half-century conflict and the guerrilla ceasefire — which the group had announced in December but broken on occasion — had been hailed as progress.
