The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) decided to cover lung cancer screening with the help of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT). Several other medical societies such as the lung Cancer Alliance and the American College of Chest Alliance supported this verdict.
The CMS clearly stated that the service would be merely offered to heavy smokers who are in the age group of 55-80. The medical authorities will judge the person with the 30 year pack smoking formula. It is based on the amount of packs a person smokes in a day.
