Climate change threatens half of North American bird species

Climate change is the main threat to the survival of almost half the bird species in North America, including the bald eagle, the National Audubon Society says in a new report.

Fewer than 10 North American bird species have disappeared from the continent since 1600, but now "half of the species risk extinction before the end of this century," Audubon Senior Scientist Gary Langham said.
