Chinese Space Program Launches Yutu Mission To Moon, Finds Nine Layers of Rock Below the Surface

China might be fifty years behind the USA’s first mission to the moon, but the republic is making the most of what we have learned in the last five decades. On China’s Yutu mission, they took instruments to the mission that we would not have had available on the original trip to our satellite. One such instrument is a probe which can bore down 1,300 feet below the surface of the moon.

And with that, China has found that the moon actually has nine different layers of rock, which lends to the theory that it was probably geologically active more than three billion years ago.
