China's Tianhe-2 Retains World's Fastest Supercomputer Crown for Fourth Time in Row

On Monday, the biannual Top500 list of supercomputers was released. It said that Tianhe-2, developed by China's National University of Defense Technology, has managed to retain the top spot as the world's fastest supercomputer for the fourth consecutive time.

To matching up to the speed of the supercomputer, the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced on Friday that it will spend around $325 million on building two supercomputers that they aim to make three to five times faster than Tianhe-2.
