China markets swing after rate cut

China's stocks have swing between gains and losses as traders weighed the impact of interest-rate cuts after the steepest four-day equity plunge since 1996.

The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.6 per cent to 2,947.26 at 10.06am local time, after declining as much as 2.3 per cent and rising 1.2 per cent. The fifth interest-rate cut since November was announced hours after the benchmark gauge closed down 7.6 per cent on Tuesday.
