Chimpanzees become Socially Handicapped when kept as Pets: Study

A new study published in PeerJ has revealed that chimpanzees that are separated from their mothers during early age, and are kept as pets exhibit behavioral and social deficiencies.

The research was led by Steve Ross, director of the Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes at Lincoln Park Zoo. Steve’s team studied a full spectrum of chimp vs. human interaction.
