Chile's environmental regulator imposes its biggest fine ever on salmon-farming company

SANTIAGO, Chile – Chile's environmental regulator says it is imposing its biggest fine ever one a salmon-farming company.

The environmental regulator said Wednesday that Los Fiordos was fined $3.2 million for 35 sanitary and environmental violations at 18 salmon farms in the southern Aysen region, which is known for its green valleys and fjords. Los Fiordos is a subsidiary of the food company AgroSuper.
