Charlie Hebdo terror victims were celebrated cartoonists, journalists defiantly willing to push the envelope 

Five staff members at the French satire magazine were murdered Wednesday in Paris. The editor, Stephane Charbonnier, previously said he would 'die rather than live like a rat.' 'I haven't the time to be an afraid - I have a paper to do,' he said in 2012.

Charlie Hebdo editor and cartoonist Stephane Charbonnier long claimed he prefered to “die rather than live like a rat.”
