RALEIGH, N.C. – Bills under consideration in the state General Assembly would make it easier for North Carolina makers of beer, cider and liquor to sell their products directly to the people who drink them.

But the state's traditionally conservative attitudes about alcohol and powerful groups that have stakes in keeping restrictions in place look to be high hurdles.
