The first dose of antidepressants a patient takes causes immediate, noticeable effects. Continued use over a matter of even a few weeks causes drastic changes in brain chemistry according to new research published in the journal Current Biology.

The results of the study published in Current Biology have found that SSRI’s produce desirable results in others, but fail to be effective in others. The universal effect however is change in the connectivity and functionality of the patient’s brain.
