Scientists have been on the hunt for the theoretical sub-particle called Higgs Boson for some time now. It is believed that this anomaly is actually the physical entity which gives mass to all things. Of course, finding this particle is not easy—scientists have to use particle accelerators to compound atoms together and then analyze the debris. But for many years they had not found anything; until last year, when researchers at CERN announced that they believed that they had finally found it.
Now, though, they are retracting, claiming that it was not, in fact, the Higgs Boson.
