CDC: Americans drink excessively, not dependently

A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that nine out of 10 Americans who drink large amounts of alcohol per sitting do not meet the criteria for alcohol dependence. Dependence in this case means strong cravings, an inability to limit drinking and withdrawals.
