Chikungunya cases have been found in US earlier, but all of them have been caused by travelling, but for the first time, a home grown case of chikungunya was reported in Florida on July 17th. Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are the two mosquito species responsible for transmitting chikungunya virus from people to people. Both species are found abundantly in many parts of the US.
