Carbon emissions climbing on back of surge in use of fossil fuels which is expected to continue

Global emissions of carbon dioxide from the combustion of fossil fuels, cement production, agriculture and deforestation reached a new record of 36 billion tonnes last year.

The figures are from an international program called the Global Carbon Project (GCP) in which the CSIRO has taken a lead roll.
