Canada's flu cases up sharply for 3rd straight week: PHAC

Laboratory-confirmed influenza cases “increased sharply” for the third straight week, the Public Health Agency of Canada reported Friday, just as Canadians are hugging and kissing their way through holiday party season.

For the week ending December 6, 37 new influenza outbreaks were reported in six provinces, according to FluWatch, PHAC’s weekly newsletter on influenza. Of those, 32 were in long-term care facilities.
