Can Contraceptive Pills Really Cause Brain Cancer? Doctors Quell Concerns

New research has once again drawn a rather worrying link between hormonal contraceptives and the respective individual’s chance of developing brain cancer. The findings of a new paper published this weekend suggest that younger women routinely using specific forms of birth control could face a dangerously elevated risk of developing glioma, a rare and deadly form of the disease.

According to the study, those diagnosed with glioma under the age of 50 are “90 percent more likely to have been using hormonal contraceptives for five years or more, compared with women from the general population with no history of brain tumor,” warned study leader Dr. David Gaist in an interview ...
