Californians urge EPA to adopt Strict Ozone Standards

In a final public hearing before the United States Environmental Protection Agency decides new health standards for ozone, the agency of the US federal government has been urged to tighten up the standards for the invisible gas that is harmful for lungs.

Current ozone standard set by EPA is 75 parts per billion, which is too weak to protect people. Gina McCarthy, administrator for EPA, has proposed to set ozone standard in the range of 65 ppb to 70 ppb.
