California Reports Highest West Nile Virus Deaths Last Year

In 2014, thirty one people infected with the West Nile Virus died. This is the highest number of West Nile Virus casualties ever recorded in the Golden State, according to the California state Department of Public Health.

Fortunately, those 31 people only represent a small portion of the more than 800 Californians who tested positive for West Nile Virus. And while this year set a new record for West Nile Virus related deaths, the highest number of cases ever recorded was ten years ago at 880.
