Cadbury eggs vs. Peeps: Americans are expected to $2.2 billion on Easter candy this year

Americans are expected to spend a combined $16.4 billion on clothes, candy, food and other Easter-related products this year, up from $15.8 billion last year, according to the National Retail Federation.

For Christians around the world, Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus. For retailers across the country, the holiday slides consumers into spring sales. For instance, Americans are expected to dole out $2.9 billion in new clothes for their families, according to the NRF survey.
