Building given up for dead nears a revival

Eleven months shy of its centennial, the much-loved, three-story brick building that formerly housed Greenville High School at the eastern gateway to downtown may be on the verge of a new lease on life.

Vacant since the late 1970s, the building in the ensuing decades fell victim to nature's ravage, yet now, thanks to public and private funds, has been shored up and buttoned down.
