Buhari leads Jonathan in Nigeria election

Nigerian opposition candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari was leading President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election in Africa's most populous country Tuesday, with two thirds of the votes counted.

Buhari, a former army general who served as Nigeria's president after a military coup in the early 1980s, was ahead of Jonathan by just over 1.5 million votes earlier. At 10.40 a.m. ET, he had 12,008,923 votes while Jonathan had 10,450,901 votes.
