Where Brunch Isn’t for Weekends Only

New Yorkers have developed a recent kinship with Southern cuisine. But Root & Bone, an intimate East Village restaurant, shows the feeling is mutual.

The owners, Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth, a Southerner and an Australian, showed they understood their adopted city with a single move: Brunch is offered Wednesday through Sunday. The kind of food considered lunch in the South—including waffles and biscuits—is brunch fare here.
