The Chicago Zoological Society announced that a male calf has been born at the Brookfield Zoo. The calf that was born on Friday weighs around 35 to 40 pounds. The news about the birth was announced on Sunday, after the calf has passed many tests important for its survival.
Nursing and slipstreaming were among the several key milestones that the calf has passed. Rita Stacey, Marine mammals' curator, affirmed that they are quite positive that the calf will survive. They are quite encouraged by the mother's and calf's behaviour.
