Breast Cancer Biopsies Are Often Misdiagnosed

A new paper published in the journal JAMA on Tuesday describes that roughly 75 percent of breast cancer biopsies are misinterpreted by doctors. It is a shocking revelation indeed, but one that could help many women in need of a second opinion to get the right information. Of course, this has huge implications for helping these women truly get the care that they need.

The paper discusses the results of a study which found that many pathologists were not able to properly diagnose breast tissue biopsies which, of course, reveals that misdiagnosing a biopsy could lead (or likely has led) to improper care, which involves both under treatment as well as over treatment...
