Brain monitoring technique helps track tinnitus, phantom ear ringing

In a study, researchers at the University of Iowa made use of specialized invasive brain monitoring technology in an attempt to locate and observe the brain networks accountable for phantom ear ringing (tinnitus) in real time.

Study co-author Will Sedley, a researcher at Newcastle University in England, said in a press release that probably the most significant finding was that activity directly associated with tinnitus was very extensive and extended across a large proportion of a part of the brain.
