There may be no purer Houston cocktail expression of the fall-into-winter season than the Route 7a at Coltivare. A riff on the apples of autumn, this long, tall drink incorporates Laird's 7-Year Apple Brandy, Woods Cider Mill Boiled Cider concentrate from Vermont and Austin Eastciders Gold Top hard cider.

Somewhat astonishingly, thanks to a healthy shot of fresh lemon juice and a couple of dashes of Abbott's Bitters, the resulting cocktail does not cloy.
