Botulism discovered in East Grand Traverse Bay

TRAVERSE CITY, MI — State biologists are advising folks to keep a tight leash on pets near the Traverse City shoreline after Michigan’s first case of botulism this year was confirmed in ducks found dead in the waters of East Grand Traverse Bay.

“At this time, it’s best to keep your dog on a leash,” said Tom Cooley, a wildlife biologist and pathologist with the state Department of Natural Resources.
