Both viruses and gut bacteria are to blame for inflammatory bowel diseases

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are always indicative of inflammatory bowel diseases – a serious condition that is characterized by abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, fever, and weight loss; but these conditions do not just occur, they are functions of various viruses and bacteria playing havoc in the bowel and abdomen.

Researchers had always thought that gut bacteria alone caused these related conditions, but latest research indicates that a variety of viruses have roles to play in developing inflammatory bowel disease, most especially as it relates to Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
