Boffins revealed clues about melting of Antarctica

A comprehensive study was made on the reasons behind the hemorrhaging of ice in Antarctica. A study lead by Sunke Schmidtko, an oceanographer at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Germany revealed many clues that are boosting the melting rate of the ice.

This extensive study includes the survey on the salinity and temperature figures of the Southern Ocean. Schmidtko and his co-authors report that the heating of ocean water is a major cause to this melting.
