A new discovery provides more evidence that the birds that we see today have evolved from dinosaurs. The discovery has been explained in the National Geographic blog Laelaps. This blog written by Brian Switek explains that there was probably a long period when the earliest birds looked almost exactly like dinosaurs and probably it was a gradual process of evolution through which dinosaurs became birds.
This discovery was made by Stephen Brusatte who is a paleontologist at the University of Edinburgh. Brusatte and his co-authors looked at the big picture of bird evolution by throwing little sci-fi speculation along the way.
