Bilaspur sterilisation tragedy: Contaminated rat poison mixed drugs could have caused deaths

Bilaspur: Days after 14 women lost their lives within 24 hours of undergoing tubectomy in government sterilisation camps in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, the state health authorities have revealed that medicines contaminated with zinc phosphide, which is used as a rodenticide, could have led to the deaths.

"Prima facie it can be said that the condition of the women (operated at camps) deteriorated after consuming zinc phosphide-contaminated drugs.
