Big night for 'Birdman'

"Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignornance)" - a surreal comic drama by filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu was the closest thing to a big winner at Sunday night's Academy Awards ceremony. "Birdman" won best picture, best director for Iñárritu, original screenplay and an award for cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezski.

In a big surprise, though, "Birdman" star Michael Keaton didn't win for his much-lauded comeback role. Best actor went to Eddie Redmayne for his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything."
