Bangladesh Court Upholds Death Penalty for War Collaborator

A Bangladeshi court on Monday turned down the last legal appeal by an Islamist party official convicted of collaborating in 1971 war crimes and upheld his death sentence.

The decision by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was the last legal roadblock to execution for 62-year-old Mohammad Qamaruzzaman, an assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami party.
