Bald eagles call Staten Island home for the first time in 100 years: officials

For the first time in a century, a pair of bald eagles are nesting in New York City — and they’re calling the South Shore of Staten Island their home, the New York City Audubon said Thursday.

Staten Island birders found the nest on a piece of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation property, according to Todd Winston, communications manager and research assistant for the NYC Audubon.
