EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County Health and Human Services said Wednesday an autopsy of University of Oregon freshman Lauren Jones was “inconclusive” but the medical examiner was not able to rule out meningococcal bacteria as the cause of death.

Lauren Jones died suddenly Tuesday afternoon after being taken to the hospital. She was a member of the acrobatics and tumbling team. The University of Oregon is in the process of reaching out to other students, teammates, and anyone else who may have been in close contact with Jones.
