“IT’S THE ONE with the worm in it.” That about sums up what I “knew” about mezcal before my editor at The Wall Street Journal sent me a bottle of it. Of course, I was wrong. The bottle I am talking about was Mezcal Vago Elote, a 100% agave, twice-distilled, toasted-corn-infused, small-batch mezcal from Oaxaca. There was no worm.
