Australia, Vietnam Boost Security Ties

CANBERRA, Australia—Australia and Vietnam agreed to expand security ties after talks during which the leaders of both countries expressed alarm over China’s muscle-flexing in the South China Sea.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Nguyen Tan Dung, his Vietnamese counterpart, said they had concluded a deal to support and consult one another on regional defense and security affairs, while also looking to forge closer military ties. Mr. Dung is on an official visit to Australia.
