Attorney General hopes to raise legal smoking age

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Attorney General announced plans to raise the legal smoking age -- which means residents would need to be 21 years old to drink and to smoke. If passed, Washington state would be the first in the country.

One in ten high school sophomores are considered smokers across the state. Although the number is slightly lower in Yakima County, it's higher in Benton County, which is why many parents would welcome the change.
