Asian Carps not a Threat for Lake Erie’s Valuable Sport Fish?

A new research has revealed that Asian carps do not pose any significant threat to Lake Erie's valuable sport fish such as walleye and yellow perch. Researchers said that the amount of food to be available in the nutrient rich lake would be more than enough to ensure survival of native species even if bighead carp and voracious silver rapidly grow in numbers.

Scientists said the competition between the lake's existing fish and the newcomers is declining because they are residing at different areas and depths.
