Artifact In Turkey May Be Oldest Tool Ever Discovered -1.2 Million Years Old

A small, pink stone found in river deposits in Turkey may be the oldest-known tool found to date. Experts believe the tool was probably used by Homo Erectus about 1.2 million years ago, when early man first started spreading from Africa to Eurasia (which began about 2 million years ago).

The Royal Holloway University of London’s Danielle Schreve comments, “It is not so much the artifact itself, which is simple but clearly humanly struck flake, but the dating of the find that is critical.”
