Twelve years ago, the Army Chinook helicopter Don Helus was flying during the Iraq War was shot down after taking AK-47 fire and two hits by rocket-propelled grenades.

Helus, now a retired chief warrant officer, living in Enterprise, told the Dothan Eagle that he sent an email to MSNBC three days after the attack notifying them of news reporter Brian Williams' false report.
