Antitoxin arrived overnight in deadly Lancaster botulism outbreak; 23 now hospitalized

Antitoxin medication to counteract botulism arrived in Columbus overnight and has been distributed to hospitals here and in Lancaster that are caring for nearly two dozen people sickened after attending a church potluck in Lancaster on Sunday, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Fairfield Medical Center officials said a neurologist identified the first suspected case of botulism early Tuesday and two more likely cases were identified shortly thereafter.
