Ann Arbor board wants legislation to ban guns from schools

The Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education is asking state lawmakers to consider legislation to make schools gun-free zones.

The board on Wednesday passed a resolution asking for the change amid a debate about whether it's appropriate to openly carry firearms in schools. A Michigan resident who has a concealed pistol license may legally openly carry a gun into a school.
