Animal sanctuary agrees to take 30 circus lions

KEENESBURG – A wild animal sanctuary in Colorado agreed to take 30 lions from two countries that banned circus animals after an international rescue group persuaded Peruvian and Colombian officials to intervene.

Wild Animal Sanctuary founder Pat Craig said his refuge northeast of Denver will take 21 lions from Peru and nine from Colombia.
