‘Angry Birds’ (with Jason Sudeikis) and ‘Tetris’ becoming movies

We, too, were skeptical about a movie based on addictive cellphone game “Angry Birds.” We take it all back (just as we did for the surprisingly good “Lego Movie”). Check out the voice cast that Sony Pictures announced this week: KC’s own Jason Sudeikis as Red, a bird with anger management issues; Josh Gad of “Frozen” as speedy yellow Chuck; and Danny McBride as volatile Bomb. And Bill Hader is a nasty pig. It’s set to catapult into theaters July 1, 2016.

Another video game is getting the big-screen treatment: “Tetris,” that ’80s puzzle of falling, interlocking blocks. “This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page.
