Ancient Crocodile Ancestor Predates Dinosaurs

A recent study from the University of North Carolina investigates an early reptilian ancestor which predates the dinosaurs. The animal has been named Carnufex Carolinensis. “Carnufex” means “Butcher” in Latin and “Carolinensis” actually stands for “Carolina” as the fossil were found in North Carolina.

Director of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science Paleontology and Geology Research Laboratory, Lindsay Zanno, explains that this animal likely lived about 230 million years ago.
