Sports-lovers eat their favorite snacks in excess during Super Bowl events. As per statistics, during the week of the Super Bowl, the amount of household food items purchased adds up to over 6,000 calories. Researchers at Cornell University found that many Americans will eat over that amount by the end of the day.
The study also proves that this time of the year represents one of the highest numbers of calories for any week. The second unhealthiest week when people buy an estimated 5,500 calories per serving a week is a week before the Super Bowl, when many are planning for the big event.
