‘American Sniper’ goes for R-rated record

“American Sniper,” the movie about the life of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle, continues to smash box office records. And now the sniper's tale has a chance to become the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Over the weekend, the film raised its domestic gross to $247.75 million, the biggest box office numbers ever for a war movie. The movie surpassed Steven Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan,” which brought in $216.5 million in 1998.
